MY HOUSE IS THE WORLD NOW

MY HOUSE IS THE WORLD NOW

MY HOUSE IS THE WORLD NOW (2021) is a series of digital photographs which summarizes environmental lifestyle changes over the past year of quarantine. A bathroom transformed into a barbershop, and a kitchen became the go-to restaurant.

The shooting process involved staging a photo of myself in representative locations around my house. Additionally, I captured 360-degree HDRI images to accurately light the 3D elements for each photo, like a barber pole outside my bathroom.

My concept began after seeing Abelardo Morell’s CAMERA OBSCURA series. In this series of photographs, Morell transforms various rooms into camera obscuras, projecting the external world onto their interior surfaces. He describes them as a ‘weird and yet natural marriage of the inside and outside.’ This series projects the outside world into my house, but rather than using camera obscuras, I use computer-generated imagery and compositing techniques. I also drew inspiration from 3D artists such as Ian Hubert, who taught me software techniques to implement in my workflow for this project.
